Bringing over 12 years of experience in diverse areas of psychology, I’ve specialized in employee assistance programs and corporate wellness. This journey has deepened my understanding across various schools of therapy.
Approach: I have an individualized approach towards every client knowing that no one thing will be applicable to all. I like to keep a more eclectic stance in my sessions incorporating techniques from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Solution Focused therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Person- centred approach.
Thoughts on counselling – Counselling is a collaborative and therapeutic process that creates a safe space for the clients to express their emotions and thoughts that could be challenging for them to deal on their own or without the fear of being judged when they share the same with family and friends. It would help people to have a better understanding of their self and their problem areas which will help them to deal with them far more effectively.
Therapy styles – An eclectic approach that brings together different styles from CBT, SFBT and Motivational Interviewing in particular.
Why I chose counselling?
I always have been very inquisitive by nature as a child wanting to know the ‘why’ behind every situation. In pursuit of that, I realised that human mind is something that had always intrigued me, especially to understand why people feel or behave in a particular situation like the way they do which led me to develop a special interest in this subject. Understanding and overcoming own personal life challenges also had contributed to my understanding of other’s situations a lot better which instilled a passion in me to enter this helping profession.
Concerns close to my heart:
Concerns pertaining to self-development such as building self-confidence and self-esteem, working on negative thoughts patterns, stress arising from anxiety and interpersonal relationship concerns between couples and families are a few to mention. However, my forte lies in behaviour modification and lifestyle management from changing unhealthy behaviour patterns to something more adaptive.
How do I handle stress when I feel low?
Practicing mindfulness, talking to trusted someone, watching something funny or reading something always helps.
